Scott Walker’s budget would shrink parole agency to 1 employee

WISDOM is very disturbed by the near-paralysis of the parole system in Wisconsin, which is still responsible for the fate of more than 2,500 prisoners, sentenced prior to 1/1/2000. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Scott Walker’s proposed budget would shrink parole agency to 1 employee.  We are wasting human lives, and millions of taxpayer dollars to keep extremely low-risk people behind bars; people whose sentencing judge assumed would be free by now. We call the Joint Finance Committee to call for a complete review of the parole system, which can lead to the release of hundreds of inmates, saving many millions of dollars.
